Quarantine Doesn’t Stop College Planning
Tomorrow is May 1. In normal years, this is the date schools and districts across Texas pause to celebrate the students who have made their college decisions. This year, many schools are still holding virtual Decision Day events. But because a lot of colleges and universities have extended their deadlines, many of your students may still be trying to make their decision in the absence of numerous resources they can usually draw on.
We’ve put together a list of top resources for educators to ensure their college-bound students follow through on attending the institution that is right for them:
- Virtual Admissions Events and Deposit Dates: This crowd-sourced Google Sheet gives a comprehensive look at virtual campus visits and information on when financial commitments need to be met to ensure admission.
- College Admissions Dashboard: Share this NACAC resource with your students, and search alphabetically by institution so that you don’t miss a deadline or status update.
- Extended Deadlines: Find which institutions have changed their deposit deadlines to June 1, 2020 or later. This resource from the Accept Group is updated almost daily.
Pssst: For those of you instructing or advising middle schoolers, we also made a video for your 8th graders transitioning to high school. Check it out, and pass it on to your students.
