Somehow, we’re already a few weeks into the new school year. As you likely know, our parent agency, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) has launched new programs and opportunities to support students this fall. Texas OnCourse is here to provide you with professional resources and information to ensure you’re confident guiding students and their families through these new programs.
The Texas First Diploma provides high-performing students an expedited path through high school. Students on track to graduate early can get rewarded with a Distinguished Level of Achievement and a scholarship for their first year of college at a participating Texas university!
Another opportunity for high-achieving students opening mid-September is the Texas Leadership Scholars. This premier cohort-model scholarship will help students grow into the leaders they’re ready to become. Only 250 students will be recipients this year. Those selected will receive a full ride scholarship for all four years at a participating institution. Nominate your TEXAS grant-eligible top 10% seniors for this opportunity. Watch for the nomination application to open mid-September!
Lastly, the TASFA (Texas Application Student Financial Aid) will be online later this fall. Eligible students can apply for state financial aid and submit their application electronically to multiple institutions. And thanks to an integration with the ApplyTexas Counselor Suite, educators will have an easier time tracking financial aid graduation requirements! Make sure you keep an eye on our channels for more details later this fall.
